UltimateMama thinks Baltimore is a wonderful, kid-friendly place for the family. Here are UltimateMama’s favorite hot spots for children:
Port Discovery is a little Children’s Museum at the Inner Harbor. Visit on a weekday to avoid crowds. It offers an indoor climbing experience with a crazy slide that kids love. Also, it has a grocery store for a “real” shopping experience — carts and all. UltimateMama was not a fan of the water exhibit as it was a complete mess but the art room is terrific. The gas station is complete with pump and car. Bob the Builder also makes appearances at times.
Maryland Science Center is also at the Inner Harbor and is really great for kids of all ages…and ADULTS. There is enough to keep everyone entertained. The offerings include a bunch of hands on activities in which children can learn about gravity/the body/motion/etc. The gift shop is wonderful too! There is also a planetarium.
The B&O Railroad Museum is terrific too — especially during the holidays! The holiday train exhibit is made out of legos! More surprising are the real trains that families can walk through and explore.
And, the National Aquarium in Baltimore is so perfect for lovers of all things water! A Polar Express 4D show is currently playing and as it is only 15 minutes long everyone will enjoy it. The dolphin show is really spirited. And, everyone loves the jellyfish as well as the sharks.
