Recently, Ultimate Mama was in Austin, Texas and visited Kendra Scott’s aesthetically gorgeous store location on South Congress Avenue. Not only were the salespeople extremely friendly, but also very helpful.  There were so many beautiful gifts for girls, tweens, teens, and women of all ages.  The Elisa gold pendant necklace in rose quartz at $55 was a huge hit with some of my younger teen daughter’s friends.  My older teen loved the Brooke cuff bracelet in gold at $60. Look for new collections each season!

UltimateMama and her family took a quick trip to Lisbon, Portugal and discovered the beauty of the city.  The amazing food (and wine for the grown ups) was an incredible treat!  UltimateMama’s kids still rave about the Pasteis de Belem–a MUST!

A few tips on Lisbon:

-Stay at the Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade in Lisbon, Portugal.  The rooms are pristine and the buffet breakfast (included in our room rate) was out of this world!

-Visit the Tower of Belem which is on the Tagus River

-Walk by the Padrão dos Descobrimentos which is also right on the Tagus River

-If you are visiting in the summer of 2018 don’t miss the M.C. Escher exhibit at the Museu de Arte Popular Lisboa

-Head to Pasteis de Belem and experience the sweet delights (one can buy a few and eat them while walking around the city)

-Tour the stunning Jeronimos Monastery

-Eat lunch at one of the shops in the Mercado da Ribeira Time Out (which has great canned fish you can buy to take home too)

-Explore the Bairro Alto area

-Have dinner at Petiscos no Bairro

 

We really can get inspiration from our kid chefs.  UltimateMama is not one to give her children dessert after dinner each night.  Moreover, due to her crazy schedule she doesn’t always have the typical ingredients to make a dessert at her disposal.  However, she is not one to deprive her children of a tasty treat when they have the vision.  Recently, much to her delight, her kids created a quick, easy, and delicious dessert treat using only 3 ingredients:

Kellogg’s Eggo Minis waffles

Blueberries

Whipped Cream

To create:  toast the mini waffles, put a dollop of whipped cream (or yogurt for a healthier version) on top, and sprinkle blueberries to garnish!
